My Story

We as a family group are taking part in CRITICAL's fitness challenge, Ready, Set, Respond from September 6th to October 16th!!

In November 2021, Hugh sustained very serious injuries and as a result of the quick thinking of those with him, the community air ambulance as it was known at the time landed here in a field beside our home in  Firies and airlifted Hugh to CUH in under 20 mins. It was this immediate intervention from the paramedics and getting Hugh to CUH in the minimum amount of time that played a critical factor in Hughs survival and thankful recovery.

We are very grateful and acutely aware of how lucky Hugh was and we now want to raise funds for the charity CRITICAL, Ireland's leading emergency charity. 

You might recognise or see their vehicles on the road or hear about 1st responders tending an accident or trauma emergency - our aim is to create awareness and raise money while walking, cycling the 1,308 km as a family group.

The 1.308km represents 1,308 incidents CRITICAL attended in 2024 - no one knows at any time when they may need this life saving service.
